Qualifications

Chartered Counselling Psychologists undertake on average seven years of training and experience before they can be awarded chartered status. As a fully qualified chartered counselling psychologist, I initially completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology, then after gaining enough experience working in mental health, I began a four year post-graduate training in Counselling Psychology in 2001. I obtained my advanced MSc in Counselling Psychology and my chartered status (C. Psychol) from The British Psychological Society in 2005. I am HCP regsitered and am eligable for registration with various Private Healthcare Companies.

I have spent several years in the NHS working in various areas (primary and secondary care), I have also volunteered in an independent counselling agency, in a charity working with children and have worked in a palliative care setting with adults facing life-limiting illness and their carers and relatives. My more recent experience has been within adult mental health settings providing therapy to adults with common psychological difficulties. I now work in private practice. I have extensive experience in areas such as depression, anxiety, phobias, low-self esteem/assertiveness, adult survivors of childhood abuse, attachment issues, relationship problems, coping with stress and life transitions such as illness and loss.
