Why psychological therapy?
It is not unusual for us to struggle in life especially when faced with challenging situations. Difficult feelings, thoughts and reactions are all part of being human. However, when these begin to get in the way of leading the kind of life we want, when they impact upon the quality of our psychological and emotional well being, this is where therapy can help.
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist offering assessments and psychological therapy in East Berkshire. I have extensive experience of working with a range of difficulties such as:
- Depression and chronic unhappiness
- Anxiety and Panic
- Phobias
- Coping with adjustment to life transitions including bereavement, redundancy, divorce and illness
- Complex Grief
- Coping with stress, for example work stress & bullying
- Relationship issues
- Adult survivors of child abuse/unhappiness in childhood
- Attachment difficulties
- Low self-esteem
- Struggles with assertiveness
I aim to create a safe and supportive space where such difficulties can be explored in order to make sense of and find a more helpful way forward. I work to enable and empower clients to develop new tools and ways of being that allow change, growth, resilience and self-compassion. My training as a psychologist allows me the flexibility to draw on a range of psychological theories, techniques and approaches. However, regardless of the approach taken, I view myself as a person first, a therapist second - this is how I approach each individual I work with.
